Katie Worthington, M.Ed., LPC
Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 13 years of experience who specializes in working with teenagers, adults and families struggling with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, religious trauma, life changes and self-esteem. She enjoys working with teens who are struggling with today’s challenges and professional adults who struggle with managing their work-life balance. Katie also works with LGBTQIA+ individuals and is passionate about providing a safe and supportive space for clients to express their true selves.
After completing her Master’s of Community Counseling at the University of Oklahoma, Katie began her career working with the severely mentally ill population in Tulsa. She then transitioned to working in local schools with children and adolescents and discovered her passion for teens. During her years in the field, Katie has found that in addition to teenagers, she enjoys working with professional adults in the community who feel burned out, overworked and stressed. In addition to private practice, she has presented at local Universities speaking on the topic of suicide. She has also supervised and mentored new graduates working on their LPC license and has worked in administration in various inpatient psychiatric settings.
Her therapeutic approach is to provide support, feedback and challenge clients to reach their full potential. She provides a safe environment for clients to express their feelings while involving the family in a team approach. Her casual and humorous style tends to help all clients become comfortable in the counseling setting quickly. Katie also provides therapy from a secular perspective, not utilizing religion or spirituality during sessions.
Katie lives in Bixby with her husband and son and enjoys reading, bird watching, gardening and cooking in her spare time.
